Webb12 feb. 2014 · Vitrification and slow-freezing methods have been used for the cryopreservation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). Vitrification requires considerable skill and post-thaw recovery is low. Furthermore, it is not suitable for cryopreservation of large numbers of hPSCs. Webb29 maj 2024 · Slow freezing works reasonably well for embryos and sperm, but was not as successful for eggs. Eggs have a much larger volume of water than embryos. The large water component of an egg increases the formation of intracellular ice crystals during the freezing process, which causes degeneration.
